Inch eye Why even bother making that post!!! Has nothing to do with original thread, and goes along way to why people get a bit p****d off with us, silly little comments like that, if you havnt got anything constructive to say or related to the thread dont bother. Thats if you are associated with us, or someone trying to stir a bit |

Sub, what do you mean by that? Gents will still be around next season just not in the current form. I can confirm that negotiations are ongoing, any official announcement will be made in the proper channels. |
i throw games
Apr 28th, 2008 - 4:40 PM |
its a done deal dont believe hilly he telling porkies!! the real question will be how many of his players will stay? and how long will it take galmpton to bomb him out. they dont want him they just want a prem team. |

Apr 28th, 2008 - 5:39 PM |
'I throw games' Hilly will be signing lots of players next season and if he goes they will go with him adn Galmpton know that. Also me and Hilly are a team so they would lose me too. Its not a done deal, both teams have to have their AGM's and have everything voted on so what Hilly says is actually all correct! |

The only losers I can see in this merger is the current reserve team players who will end up having to play on a council pitch. |

Apr 28th, 2008 - 7:36 PM |
Wrong! Can we please not speculate about what will and won't happen, unless you're involved you don't know, as I said before when we are ready a proper announcement will be made. |

We are merging with Torbay Gents. This will benefit both clubs. The current management structure will stay the same and the commitee will be made up of both clubs. The issue regarding pitches will remain the same as this season, if the first team are at home and the 2nd or 3rd team are also at home they will have to use a council pitch or kick off at home after the 1st team game. When the 1st team are away the 2nd or 3rd team will use the pitch as their home pitch. The two teams in the SDL will not be at home on the same weekend as they play in the same league and the league will arrange the fixtures as they do for any club that has 2 teams in the sdl.Hoope that clears up any problems. |

I disagree we sometimes have both teams at home on the same day so no the SDL do not arrange the fixtures that one is home and one is away, they try their best but you may get two home games on one day as well as your first team, we have and had to find another pitch. |

agree with sub. although barry will do his best not to clash games, there is nothing he can do if both teams are drawn home in cup games. when the fixtures are out you need to have a good look and get in early to book a third pitch otherwise you'll be playing a cup game at kgv. |

With Gents Sec on the case it's not going to be a problem, you'll note that Gents have finished their fixtures already this season despite playing at Clennon, this is because we plan ahead. This merger is considered a positive move by both clubs and will make both stronger off and on the field. Since the merge has become more generally known Gents have been approached by other clubs, we are however very pleased with the way talks have gone and are committed to the merger with Galmpton. I can only speak for the Gents lads all of whom are positive about the move and contrary to previous comments have virtually all committed themselves to playing for the new club. Those that are leaving will remain signed for SDL purposes as they will be playing their football in the Premier Division of the Peninsula Leaugue next season. |

I take it then Hilly you will be seeking pastures new? |
?
Apr 29th, 2008 - 5:17 PM |
so your not going to wait for our agm. Bit underhand!!!! |
Hilly
Apr 29th, 2008 - 7:19 PM |
I'm not going anywhere. Both clubs have to have their respective agms which is why it was stated above that it's not finalised yet. Nothing was going to be said until it was, but it got out and things that are said on here by people not prepared to say who they are and don't know the facts should not be allowed to influence things. This isn't the place for a private matter between the two clubs and their members to be discussed so I'm not going to be drawn into saying any more on here, anything after this post that you read unless from Gents Sec or identifiable as being from Galmpton is speculation, people who think they need to know more can speak to me directly. |

Good to see someone starting off in local grass roots football and working his way up. I understand he has been involved in football administration for more than 32 years (voluntary) and now he will be doing a job that he enjoys. Good on him, the League will defo miss him. |

Spoke to Mark last night and he's been in his new position for a week and is really enjoying it. He sounded genuinly excited about it and was looking forward to the challenges ahead. He did tell me his official title but there were so many words in it I've forgotten what it was! |
