engines

The only problem I see with the engine rule is a selfish one. In my area (north central OH), most rules are geared to 355 flat tops, some alow world heads or the sealed engines (a whole debate in itself). That means run what I have and be so so. Or have 2 engines. Besides that the suspension rules differ also. But at this point I would be happy just to run at Kentucky and Bristol and be so so.

Re: engines

the logical solution is to give a 355 something...mabe .5 point of gear over a 406... i dont think any one is politicing for a single engine rule..... the real point to all this is to try and allow any of the engine combos that he current has..just equalize them a little.......100 lbs isnt doing it........this is race 2....a lot of interest is being generated ...there are probably 15 cars that would come from n.c. with 355 engines but after bristol they arnt going to come at a disadvantage and 406 circle track engines arnt used here....the compromise would help more people get involved.
we arnt crying ...if 406 remains the status quo then we will build one or go away....just trying to help this great idea get more traction....

Re: engines

I like the idea of giving the 355 some help but I read on a previous post that some guy had 355 and ran in the top 5. We run a 355 and I would love some help but can you do it and not put the 406 at a disadvantage. What ever happens we'll keep running it's too much fun to quit.

Re: engines

the 29 and 91 were 355..both qualified top 10 and 29 finished 3rd...these were 7-10 k engines ..not much left to get and they were out motored by 406
its simple the rules allow up to 406...thats at min. 50 hp why would you handycap yourself and build a 355...the issue needs to be settled now...frank indicated that 355 would be helped.... since our local tracks run 355 thats what we built... call it either do or dont so new entries dont come with under powered engines

Re: engines

i dont know what u are crying about if u qualifed in the top 10 with both cars and ran third i dont understand what u are crying about. the 406 has to add a 100 lbs what eles do u want. u was probaly running mannaul tranny so that was not helping yor 355 with 100 lbs added to your car. i think there was one car that qualifed in the top 5 with an auto tranny and would have been the car to beat if it didnt get in to the crash at the end of the first 75 so do your homework if i was running a 355 i would be runnig a auto tranny but he was running 406. u knew the rules before u came to bristol so quit crying. those top 5 or so cars that run salem they had to build all knew motors to get closer to yals rules they had to take there domes out and put flat tops in so think they have already done enough dont make us build another motor for next year you would really make so people very mad. so thats enough about the motors.

Re: engines

Perhaps you didnt understand the intent of my posts...I #36 qualified 19th with a 355 crate 405 hp engine and an automatic
my buddys were in the 91 and 29 and we also buit and bought engines baised on what we were told from the kimmel group
we are only trying to get an even shake....but dont worry after kent we are building 406...and then we wont have any complaints......

Just for the record the 29 driver had never been to bristol and brought a new car that was never driven and actually finished at the track... I believe the top cars had all participated in the test session at bristol so from the look of it an expensive 355 might compete......does frank think this event will survive if it takes expensive engines to compete....i think not....
My engine was a Madison claimer 10.5/1 355,405 hp ..cost 3,500.00 with heads.... open your mind
and consider the big picture.... allowing expensive high compression big cu.in engines to rule will kill new interest.....

Re: engines

how many car tested at bristol? i ask frank and he told me that he was the only one that was there if more tested and the rest of the field was not invited that is not right. If that is true it sound like KY all over.

Re: engines

Dave i think there was a few more there but i believe they were invited but the track and not frank i know one of them blew a motor and maybe another one had to build a new car because the track didn't like the roll cage. I know for a fact Todd Kemph was not at the test and to me he had everyone covered there.

Re: engines

I hate to tell you guys, but I don't think anybody can beat those top 5 guys heads up. Those same top guys will run up front EVERYWHERE they go. It won't matter if you make them run a 305....
As a racer, I think Frank has made this series as fair as he can. Being that he is trying to draw street stock cars. I myself wish he would alow aluminum bodies to run and do away with the manditory floaters. The floaters have put a big dent in the series. Not many street stock division have a mandatory floater rule.

Re: engines

I think the floater rule was the decision of the race tracks, along with the bigger door plate, it is a safety thing, I go to Salem alot and every year I see broken axles, and this year Salem has mandated floaters in there street stock series, but you are right about the top 5 guys, they are tough.

Re: engines

give them a 12 /1 350 and see what happens ....those that are running 406 engines are doing it for one reason only....more torq and hp...i was born at night ,but not last night
