I like the openness of the rules, but I know what you mean about having a lower budget engine, I priced one of those 406 motors that beat everybody, they start at 12k, I could buy two crate late model engines for that, or build a new car, I think if everyone does their research, they could figure out how to build the right motors and not spend but half that much, the 5500 rpm rule and gear rule is supposed to be an equalizer, but if you are 100 hp off and can't pull the rpm, it doesn't make things equal. I have been looking online and it seems the buzz is everyone is building a 406 high compression motor, but you have to do what ever everyonelse is doing to compete, but you still have to run your local series as well, as far as the Salem guys who ran well at Bristol, those guys should have ran good there, if you have never ran at Salem, it is very fast, rough, and not much grip, and the local guys, they mash the gas there fly, at Bristol, I wouldn't be surprised is the front guys were ever lifted except to keep from hitting someone, that track has so much more grip than what we run, and as far as having a 100 MPH crash and destorying a car, we destroyed a car last year at Salem, that happens, when you get 50 , 70 or 80 cars on a track, you are going to tear up some cars, everyone should know that, I think 36 cars were running on the track at Bristol at the end of the race, 51 started and in 77 laps 36 still running, that's not bad, but the cars need to be a little more equal, maybe have a 383 cin rule, that seems to be a real common engine, as far a compression goes, I have 9:1 motors run with 13:1 motors, so what do you do, I think Frank has done a good job with this series, it is only 2 races old, if everyone keeps coming a racing, and if everyone keeps posting on the forum in a positive way( I think you are, just wanting everyone else to), this will give Frank and everyone else involved, including the racers, something to build from, last year at KY, you had about 10 cars up front that were real fast, some had 406's and some 327's, noe from about 12 on back there were 30 cars that was pretty equal, so I hope everyone gives this series a chance, I would like to see things be closer, but that is racing, if everyone ran the same stuff, street stock racing would not be very exciting in my opinion, because if everyone had the same stuff it would be spec racing, and that is real exspensive, leave the rules alone but maybe cut the cubic inches back, and on the compresion thing, open the rule up, like you said let us get the compression any way we want, the flat top rule is ok, but the cost is more. I want to see this a bunch of pepole post on here tommorrow, so quit just reading the post and post something, lets make this work for everyone, and Thanks Frank Kimmel and everyone at Kimmel Racing for putting this together, alot of dreams came true about two weeks ago, and I am sure more is to follow, so get posting. |

those are the rules u can build u 406 just like those guys did by the rules. quit crying about the rules and work on your cars and get them handling in the corners like the guys from salem and it will look like u got a 100 more HP. but i do like what u said about the compershion rule we had to build a new motor because of dome pistons. u could take the guys from salem and take them anywhere and they would run up front. so build u a 406 and lets go racing. se u at ky |

Are the speedway exhaust manifolds not allowed? The cast iron deal will cost a lot of money when you talk about intake and exhaust manifolds, I know this from experience. Brzezinski offers some really high dollar parts that would fit these rules and it does make a lot more power than stock parts. There best intake sells for around 600.00 and the exhuast sells for about 400.00 for a pair. They will sell you a flowed intake, heads, manifold, for the right price. HIGH DOLLAR. You can buy a set of stock looking rockers that can handle 600# of open pressure from another bunch that cost a lot. My opinion, 360ci flat top,any intake, roller rockers, stud gridle, any steel head,.450 cam, But I am not complaning we will race whatever. THANKS FRANK KIMMEL FOR SUCH A GREAT CHANCE. |

We all know with an rpm limit you will have to use all the torque you can get. The best way to do that will be max cubic inch and compression. The guys running spec engines may have a little edge on us, but we can get pretty close. If your 406 has decent compression and is finely tuned you should be ok. At Bristol we was 4th in practice, 7th in qualifying and running 4th and 5th until we crashed out. I think I can get the engine in tune a little better and be a little closer when we go to Ky. The only thing that concerns me is that from what I've seen most of the tracks besides our local tracks have a 358 cubic inch limit and it seems like eventually our local tracks will have to follow suit. The 400 blocks are getting too hard to find and expensive. I do however know that you can run good with a 355 if everything is fine tuned and your car handles. We had a 355 inch motor at ky. and ran 2nd to 4th until the last caution with a bad restart. We ended up 6th and I believe the 5th place car had a flat top 355. I also want to thank the Kimmels as well as all the people from Bristol and Kentucky Speedways for these opportunities to race and be treated with such respect. It makes all the hard work and late nights in the garage much easier when you know your going somewhere where they appreciate you being there. |

I seen the one that said the car that won had 12 thousand dollar engine. I wish. the car handled perfect. come run at salem and dodge pot holes, and bumps If u run and win at salem u can run anywhere that was like driving down the interstate. would sell car for 15000 just the way it left bristol |

Way to put it on the table Todd. They can put up or shut up now can't they. $12,000 for your car the way it was running is a bargain. Most true racers know that on a short track you are better to run a better handling car over more horsepower. Of course we all love to have our horsepower too. Anyway you were on a rail. You either did your homework or got real lucky. I am willing to be it was the homework. Great job. |
