Re: Champions League 2008/09
It's a big week for Sporting! It would be nice to see them make some good progress in the competition this year (quarter finals with a bit of luck...). To do that they'll HAVE to win this week and probably take 10 points off Basel and Shaktar. They must have one of the best traditions of bringing youngsters through the ranks and given them a chance. Its always nice to see a team like that upsetting a few of the big spending superpowers!

Re: Champions League 2008/09
Thanks again Katy. Well, good result for the Mancs! Pity about Rooney but he won't be missed if Berbatov kicks on from the two goals he scored last night - he's a better player in the position that Rooney seems to play in these days - i.e. withdrawn striker/Number 10.
That little brazilian kid looked great! If his twin brother is as good Man U are going to be even better to watch over the next few years!

Re: Champions League 2008/09
Well done Messi and well done Sporting! Shame to see Marseille losing - great club with fanatical supporters! I'll never forget the trip I made there to watch Newcastle play in the quarter final of the UEFA Cup. Although we played rubbish and lost it was a great day and night. We stopped traffic in the city with an absolutely huge kickabout involving about 200 supporters, and their fans wer really welcoming. Hope they can get it together and qualify for the next round, hopefully at the expense of Liverpool!!!!

Hey everyone...sorry I haven't commented sooner.
Great opening by Man U Katy, you're as good as through allready.
Fiorentina and Roma are struggling more I see. IT would have been so great to have them advance though. I agree that it was just great seeing Fio back in CL. Some of the first games I watched Bati playing was with Fio in CL. How great wasn't his goals. Awh...I miss those days.
Anyway...I'm really pleased to see some new clubs in the group stage this year. It can get a bit repetitious with the same clubs year in and year out.

The CL draw took place today and it came up with some really interesting matches.
Olympique Lyonnais-Barceona
Chelsea-Juventus
Villarreal-Panathinaikos
Sporting Clube-Bayern München
Atlético de Madrid-Porto
Real Madrid-Liverpool
Inter-Manchester United
Arsenal-Roma
Inter vs Man U and Chelsea vs Juventus will be some great matches and so will be Real vs Liverpool.

Re: Champions League 2008/09
Ja, that it is - some good match ups. Some really good shows of Europe.
Atlético de Madrid V Porto, Arsenal V Roma, Internazionale V Manchester and Real Madrid V Liverpool are really good match ups and anyone can be the victorious, i know.
München drawn with Lisbon is a tricky one though (for me) where as Barça placed with Lyon and Villarreal with Panathinaikos SHOULD be staright forward advance for Barça and Villarreal respectively (to me that is).
Saludos,
Juán.
