8.5' by 11' reader device
I was wondering if there is a good e-book reader with a screen size of a letter or A4 size sheet of paper the iRex and Sony readers have small screen sizes, whihc is very inconvenient if you want to read your PDF or Word files. Bookeen Cybook seems to be of a good screen size. But the screen seems similar to a laptop screen, which would cause a lot of disconfort to the eyes. Any comments. |

Welcome Fareed. That is a good question. If you take a look at the iRex Iliad you can see that the screen is a bit bigger (wider) that the Sony reader. http://www.irextechnologies.com/photos.htm Looking at the scale it does not appear to be a full A4 size though. I do think it has a higher resolution and more gray scales, 16 gray scales for iLiad vs. 4 gray scales for Sony, so that might make a difference. I am sure it will cost more. For myself, I read mostly fiction so having a small and portable reader is important to me. I think if you are going to read a lot of PDF documents, especially with mathematical formulas or tables then a large letter sized screen becomes very important. The Sony looks optimized for straight text reading. I suspect that if this first batch of readers shows promise, others will come out with their models and we will have more choices. |
