Recent review of risk factors for glaucoma progression.
A very interesting paper came out recently which tried to look at risk factor for prevalence, incidence & progression of open angle glaucoma, of which Pigmentary Glaucoma is one. Because of it's high academic standards there is little in the way of definitive guidelines. However, it would appear that, of the things a person can modify themselves (those with raised IOP as a result of PG) smoking, alcohol, high Body Mass Index, Caffeine & fat intake are not risk factors for progression. Although none of them, I feel compelled to add are very good for the rest of you. The only modifiable thing you can do to reduce progression is persist with therapy.
