eye exam.

another question, I have never asked, but always wanted to know....(why don't I ask these questions when in the opticians)?.
What does va 6/6- mean?.

A fraction like that is a way of writing the smallest size of letters that someone can see down a test chart. This is known as visual acuity.

It is written as the test distance/size of letters.

6/6 is the metric version of 20/20. So meters rather than feet.

The minus indicates that you didn't manage one letter on the size 6 line at 6 meters.

6/6 (or 20/20) is traditionally thought of as "normal" vision, but this is from a study in the mid 1800's. Nowadays we know that this is only really normal for people people in their 50's and that younger people can often get much better.
However there is wide variety from person to person and day to day.
