Seatac Convention

The convention in Seatac, WA is approaching. There has been for some time interest in going to the land of Erin for a convention in her hometown. She seems to have apprehensions about the quality of the con or if it is worth going to. If anything, I think it would be a fun trip... though I seem to find all trips fun.
Here is the website link for Rustycon, as they call it. It is apparently a Sci-Fi/Fantasy convention, and I don't know how the game scene works. Perhaps we can participate and get free entry, Erin will hopefully fill us in on that.

It will be in January, and expect to pay travel fares and some amount for nutrition. I forbid excessive eating out because nobody can really afford that. I assume we can lodge with Erin. If the plan succeeds, the fares should be 80 dollars one-way. That also is assuming that it all gets booked before December. I imagine it will be a voyage by both train and small airplanes. That is usually the most economical, although it takes all day.

More will be added to this post by Erin and I as stuff gets figured out. Otherwise, you may add color commentary as you see fit.

Re: Seatac Convention

Bad news all you historical minis players, Rustycon seems to not have a place for you. I have contacted the game guy for the Con and he has informed me that they mostly play fantasy stuff. D&D minis, Magic cards, Settlers of Catan, etc. I have yet to ask if we can get reduced admission for running games, I'm not quite sure how to say it without sounding greedy. Any ideas would be great. I can have Mordheim terrain all set by then and I have Monster Dice. I also have LOTR Risk, but I don't know how to play the right rules and it's boring and hard. Perfect for Joel! Just kidding, Joel, I know you aren't enough of a LOTR fan, maybe if it were Civil War Risk... Anyway, I'll work on my networking skills here to see what's up. Also, I believe costumes are almost mandatory, ie we'd look stupid without them. It seems to be heavily into fantasy, anime, and pirates, judging by the website's pictures. That's all for now.

Re: Seatac Convention

Sorry, guys, you are no longer invited to RustyCon. I can't have you come up here in January because I'll be all stressed out from Christmas and all the traveling. It's just as well, since apparently RustyCon is totally not a gaming convention and any games would be shoved into deep dark corners of the hotel. At least I'll see you all at the DL Christmas Classic-A-Thon, but January's been canceled.

Re: Seatac Convention

As unfortunate as that is, it kinda takes a load off of me. It means that I no longer need to worry about a train ticket that I know I wouldn't be able to afford.

Anyway... I'll definitely try to make Rustycon next year. According to what I heard from the Aberclarke's, its a party con, which means there's events scheduled as just Party rooms. And they'll probably have booze, and I'll be 21 by then!

Anyway... Sounds like everything works out in the end...

Anyway... See ya later.
