Warhammer Discussion
I think Brettonian's are cheap! Not only are they an army of knights, with pitiful peasants that cost nothing... I mean thats bad enough, but they get several things that just make them incredibly cheap. First, they get the blessing of the lady. This lets the opponent choose the first turn, but the benefit is better. It means that all of their knights (practically they're whole army) gets to have a 5+ ward save against anything that can kill them. They lose it if they flee, or refuse a challenge, but by then, they're in combat, and they can take just about anything in combat. Secondly, they have the lance formation, which lets them get ranks for having 2 fewer guys in their back ranks. This gives them a huge advantage over other cavalry, or expensive units that need 5 files to get a rank. A unit of 9 gets two rank bonuses. Normal units would get none! Thirdly, they are required to have a standard bearer. So for some reason they get an extra hero choice. This is ludicrous! NO other side gets that. Or anything like it! Even when they're required to have a particular hero. The Tomb Kings are required to have a massively expensive Heirophant and a massively expensive Tomb Prince! And they don't get extra hero slots to get them. They also get unit champions for free! They are required to have unit champions in their units, so they get them for free. They can hide their mages in the middle of units, where they still have line of sight to anything in front of the unit. Also, the Pegasus knights are the best flying unit in the game. Sure, they're 55 points a model, but it doesn't matter. Any quantity greater than 3 of them will make them own. They're hard to kill with a 3+ save, plus the blessing, and they have strength 4 with two attacks with the pagasi alone. If they get the charge (which, they fly, so they likely will), then they have lances, so they get strength 5 with the knights. The point I'm getting at, is that brettonians basically have units that are far too good, but because they don't get that many of them, they have alot of them, they have to give them additional rules to make them impossible to kill! They break the rules more than Chaos does! It's insane! And they **** me off. In order to beat them I'd have to have an army specifically designed against them, and even then, my horrible luck would cause me to lose. Basically... they're special rules make them impossible to get rid of. 40 knights become impossible to get rid of. And its demoralizing. I've played games against brettonians where I've killed 4 things, in total. |

so, do tell the ways in which they are not cheap. Because I really wanna know. How do I beat Brettonians? If you can give me an answer to this tactical question, and using it, I can beat the Brettonians, I will thank you immensely, and have no more problems with them. Something more than just "get the flank charge" Because thats not an easy thing to do. Besides, I already know that they're toast if I can get the flank charge. |
