To find out where all of the meetings will be held, go to http://dnr.wi.gov/org/nrboard/congress/documents/Notice%20-%20NR%2010%20%2020.pdf. This site also tells you the questions we get to vote on. Fish question 22 is the Eagle Lake one, and #9 regards raising the minimum size limit to 45" for muskies on Monona, Waubesa and Wingra, in Dane County plus the tributaries and connecting waters to those lakes. The range becomes quite extensive, since it includes the Yahara River!!! So far, having a 40" minimum has done nothing to create state record fish. No matter what the minimum size of any species, people take the fish home to mount or eat as soon as it's an eighth of an inch over the minimum. Chuck Rolfsmeyer of ESPN (B.A.S.S.) & the Madison Fishing Expo. said at our spring WCSFO meeting that the 40 inch minimum didn't do anything to help the fish.
Here are the latest emails on Eagle Lake, Racine County on Lake-Links. For those of you who wonder what the Wisconsin Council of Sport Fishing Organizations, WCSFO, does, here's an example. I have fixed a few typos to make it read better, plus I've removed a lot of things that took up space, including an advertisement. Also, I've listed some of the local DNR Spring Hearing Sites. Be there.

Thanks for the info, Raptor. Monday, Apr. 16, 2007 is the date and time for the Spring Hearings. Racine is at the Union Grove High School, Auditorium, 3433 S. Colony Ave., Union Grove; Kenosha is at Bristol Grade School, Auditorium, 20121 83rd St., Bristol; Walworth County is at Delavan/Darien High School, Auditorium, 150 Cummings, Delavan & Milwaukee is at Greenfield High School, Auditorium, 4800 South 60th Street Greenfield. The fishing questions are listed first, so you don't have to stay all night. It is nice to help support the hunters too, since they'll vote as you vote. Both hunters and fishermen must keep PETA from swaying our rights in their favor. If we can't fish, there's no Lake-Links, MidWest Outdoors (Where I write most often), Fishing Facts, fresh caught fish fries, etc. And once again, per Raptor go to http://dnr.wi.gov/org/nrboard/congress/documents/Notice%20-%20NR%2010%20%2020.pdf to see the questions you'll vote on and where all of the locations are. This is democracy in action, and almost all other countries don't get this outstanding opportunity to voice their opinions. From these hearings, the votes are shown to the DNR Board who then make the final decisions. Fishing Question #22 is the one we are all concerned about. It states "Implement restrictive bag and size limits for panfish, largemouth and smallmouth bass and northern pike in Eagle Lake, Racine County." All counties will vote on this, and you can see how vague it is written. As a professional writer, I know this is done on purpose to manipulate the vote as Doug Welch wants it. Thanks to all of you who have let me know you too see through what Doug is doing.

Hi all,
Since Doug Welch is the person in charge of the lakes in Racine, Kenosha and Walworth counties, I suggest you send him an email and ask him where the fish are going. His email address is Doug.Welch@dnr.state.wi.us. It's literally his job to answer these questions. That's what he's paid to do. Also, if you oppose this Eagle Lake fiasco, let him know. He should hear from people who actually fish the lake, and not just those who want us off of THEIR lake. I can't imagine a lake in SE Wisconsin that needs bluegills stocked. If someone can't catch bluegills in a lake, they must be really bad fishermen. It would be nice if they put the fish in the city ponds for the Apr. 14 Kids Fishing Klinics. Hooked on Fishing International knows that if you teach a kid to fish, the child won't take up illegal drugs. But then again, everytime the DNR fixes, or refixes a lake as in Eagle Lake, the DNR causes the boat rentals to go out of business. Often, condos take their places, and these people have lots of pontoon boats, jet skis, speed boats, etc., and they tell us to keep off of their lakes. Many are not even Wisconsin residents. Think of the lakes that lost boat liveries due to refixing. LaBelle, Eagle, etc. There are no boat rentals on a lot of lakes that used to have them, such as Army, Boothe, Lauderdale, Pickerel, Moose, Oconomowoc, Kee Nong Go Mong (Long), Nagawicka, Okauchee, and on-and-on. Is it possible that the DNR is causing fewer people to buy fishing licenses? Wouldn't it be nice if the DNR rented boats on their public launches. New anglers might actually be able to go fishing! Instead, the DNR gives the launches away free to local townships who then charge us for launching. Sounds like an awful investment for our fishing dollars. I wish the DNR would give me free land.
